Camps

Students in year 5 and 6 are invited each year to participate in a school camp.  Our school aims to provide a variety of camping experiences. To do this we select camps that are quite different to each other. Although camps are al about fun, we aim to make our camps beneficial contributors to our student's growth. So make this so, no matter which camp we attend, the focus in on developing student leadership, teamwork and resilience while having a boat load of fun at the same time.

The benefits of school camp are numerous and here are 5 of the best!

1. Development of social skills

2. Development of independence skills

3. Development of decision-making skills

4. Increased environmental awareness

5. Learning new skills

What if your child is feeling anxious about camp?

Here are four tips to help your child feel more confident about going to camp:

1. Preparation is the key to feeling less anxious. Talk with your child about their worries and fears.

2. Pack together and make it fun.

3. Give your child a special journal to take with them on camp. 4. Talk to your child's teacher and share the concerns you have.

If you would like more detailed information about the benefits and how to prepare your child for camp, you can read more at: Melbourne Child Psychology

Excursions

Each of our school excursions ia directly linked to our curriculum and development of our students. It is our aim for each  class to  attend at least one excursion per year, where possible. In addition to curriculum based excursions, students in Year 3 to Year 6 have the opportunity to participate in several sporting gala days and interschool academic competitions throughout the year

·        Valley Champion Netball and touch football competitions

·        Kilcoy Gala Day- touch Football

·        Small School Athletic Carnival

·        Woodelmee ( Woodford, Delaneys Creek and Mount Mee) Swimming Carnival

·        Mount Kilcoy Spelling Competition

·        Wonder of Science Competition

Swimming

Our school operates a swimming program in term four each year at the Woodford Public Pool. This program is conducted by qualified school staff and swimming instructors for all year levels and forms an important part of our health and physical education program. Students in the senior school have the opportunity every second year to work towards their bronze star.

Fees

As our school does not charge a school fee, we operate by a user pays system with all costs for camps and excursions to be paid up front. Due to many activities requiring confirmation of attendance numbers and payment prior to attendance, the ability to offer a refund for non-attendance is limited. Our school's Request for refund policy (PDF, 178 KB) contains all details for parents requiring a refund.
